Our egg farms have a passion for protecting the environment by recycling, conserving energy and water, minimizing waste, and adopting environmentally responsible management strategies. In addition to being a member of the H2Ohio Program, which works to protect Ohio’s waterways, approximately 20% of our conventional shell egg producers’ electricity needs are fulfilled by renewable sources. Happy Chicken Farms applauds our producers for their work toward improving environmental stewardship, animal care, community involvement, and food innovation!
Who gets to decide what sustainability means? The people that have an abundance of money and food choices, or the 800 million undernourished? It is a matter of perspective, and we in the US need to be careful in our judgement. Practical examples in news daily show that solutions based on scientific research are not always acceptable from a social perspective.
The food industry is facing consumers that are seeking new food solutions that deliver them choice, convenience and transparency in how and where the food was produced, what is in it and how its safety is secured. As part of the value chain, Happy Chicken Farms and Merry Milk Maid will continue to find ways to meet these growing demands. We welcome your comments and input!
